Advice for parents during Coronavirus

Whilst coronavirus is infectious to children it is rarely serious.  If your child is unwell it is likely to be a non-coronavirus illness, rather than coronavirus itself.
Should I send my child to school? is a useful flow diagram to help you decide if it’s a simple cold or you need to self isolate and arrange a test.
If your child does have symptoms of coronavirus it is extremely important to try to book a test, and follow government advice to stay at home during this period.
It can be confusing to know what to do when your child is unwell, so What parents need to know about COVID-19 is an excellent website to look at.
Remember  we are still open, it’s just that we initially do a phone or video consultation to assess your child’s symptoms rather than book you a “face to face” appointment as usually happened prior to the pandemic. The GP will still arrange to see your child if this if it is required.
NHS 111, and hospitals are still providing the same safe care that they have always done.

If your child is 2-3 years old please phone to book a nasal flu appointment if you’ve not yet done so. It is more important than ever to reduce the chance of your child or any adult contacts of your child catching flu this year for everyone’s sake.
It’s also very important to proceed with all the normal childhood immunisation. Please see here for further information about this during the pandemic.
If you are Pregnant or have a child less than 2 years old, please see here for free support available if you are struggling at this difficult time.
Finally, keep safe and phone us if you are worried!
